Galaxy S25 Edge’s Premium Glass Fails to Impress in Drop Test

A few days ago, we saw the Galaxy S25 Edge survive a brutal bend test, proving it can withstand substantial pressure. But how well does it handle drops? A YouTuber dropped the slim Samsung flagship multiple times onto concrete to test its durability, and the results may disappoint you.
Galaxy S25 Edge’s screen cracked on the first drop
Measuring just 5.8mm thick, Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge arrives as the slimmest Galaxy S series device to date. Apart from its ultra-slim design, Samsung also put a lot of effort into the durability of the phone. It uses a Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the front, while Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects its back. Samsung has also implemented a premium titanium frame for enhanced durability and a lightweight build.
YouTube channel PBKreviews recently tested the Galaxy S25 Edge’s strength, dropping the phone from head height and waist height at different angles onto a concrete surface. In the first test, they dropped it from head height with the screen facing down, and the screen cracked. Yes, the screen cracked on the first drop itself.
This is quite surprising as the Galaxy S25 Edge uses tougher Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2. While the phone is still functioning properly, this outcome may disappoint buyers, given that it’s a flagship smartphone after all.
In the second test, they dropped the phone on its back from the same height. However, it did not exactly land flat on its back — the device hit the back corner of the frame, causing some scratches or scuffs on the frame. To get a flat impact on the back, they attempted again. This time, there were cracks on the back corner of the glass and some scrapes on the camera bezel. The good thing is that the camera lens was undamaged, and the phone still worked properly.
In the final drop test, the YouTuber dropped the phone on its side from waist height. This resulted in some additional scrapes on the frame, but the phone continued to power on and work just like before. These drop tests suggest the Galaxy S25 Edge is a little fragile. If you often drop your phone, you should invest in a strong case as well. The Galaxy S25 Edge is currently available for purchase from the official website with a trade-in benefit up to $630.
