Samsung is bringing more AI-powered convenience to Galaxy A56 users across Europe. The company has begun rolling out the May 2025 software update for the new mid-range handset in the region, bringing Google Gemini side button support. This update also includes the latest security fixes.

Gemini comes to the side button for Galaxy A56 users in Europe

With the new update, Galaxy A56 users in Europe can now press and hold the power button (aka side button) to launch Google Gemini. This feature was originally introduced with the Galaxy S25 series and expanded to a bunch of other flagships. The Galaxy A56 is the first mid-range device to get it. Samsung previously rolled out the feature in South Korea and India and is now pushing it to European A56 units.

The update comes with the firmware build version A566BXXU3AYDK also brings enhanced integration between Gemini and Samsung’s core apps. “Google Gemini is now seamlessly integrated with Samsung apps such as Calendar, Notes, Reminder, and Clock,” Samsung’s official release notes state. “You can complete tasks in these apps using information from Gemini with one simple command.”

For example, you can ask Gemini to obtain specific information from a YouTube video and save it in Samsung Notes. Likewise, Gemini can find your favorite sports team’s schedule and add the games to your calendar. This integration is a culmination of Samsung and Google’s collaborative efforts to deliver seamless mobile AI experiences across the Galaxy family.

Besides these AI enhancements, the latest update for the Galaxy A56 contains the May 2025 security patch. This month’s SMR (Security Maintenance Release) for Galaxy devices addresses nearly 80 vulnerabilities across Android OS and One UI components. It should be just a matter of time before Samsung rolls out this update to the A56 and other models worldwide. You can check from the Settings app.
