Samsung appears to be working on an expansion of the Now Brief feature within One UI, allowing users to make their daily routines smarter. We discovered a hidden menu in the Modes and Routines app that hints at an upcoming feature where users might be able to create personalized cards for Now Brief. These menus are currently only available in Korean, and the functionality does not yet appear to be active, suggesting the feature is still in development. This feature may launch with One UI 8 later this year.

Hidden menu for personalized now brief cards

In the latest version of Modes and Routines on One UI 8, we discovered a hidden menu. This menu allows users to create custom cards for Now Brief, where they can specify:

  • Days and times when the card should appear.
  • Actions triggered when tapping a button within the card.
  • Icons, titles, and descriptions for the card.

This feature offers a high level of customization. Whether you want to launch your music app in the morning or check your calendar before lunch, these new routines support all types of behavior. For example, a user can set a card to appear every weekday at 5:00 PM, opening their favorite public transport app to plan the commute home.

Our experience

We attempted to set up a custom routine through the hidden menu, aiming to trigger a card in Now Brief. While the configuration appeared successful, the card did not appear. This suggests the feature is not yet fully operational or there are additional activation conditions.

The discovery of this hidden menu shows that Samsung is actively working to expand the personalization options within Now Brief. Although the feature is currently limited in availability and functionality, it provides a preview of the future integration of personalized information on Galaxy devices. We will continue to monitor this development and share updates as more information becomes available.

Can’t wait to try out these features yourself, but your device doesn’t officially support Now Brief? Check out this article to see how you might be able to get it working anyway.
