We know that Apple has been working on a foldable iPhone for quite some time now, and it might finally arrive next year. However, there’s still no clear indication of when exactly the foldable iPhone, or whatever it ends up being called, will make its debut. A good guess would be during Apple’s annual event, likely alongside the iPhone 18 series, where the company traditionally unveils its latest devices.

Foldable iPhone might not want to be in the same room as the Galaxy Z Fold 7

As we get closer to the expected launch, new details about the foldable iPhone have started to emerge, and it looks like the Galaxy Z Fold 7 might actually outperform it. Reliable source Digital Chat Station has shared fresh information about the foldable iPhone’s display, along with some camera leaks. If these reports are accurate, the device could feature a 7.58-inch inner display with a 14.1:10 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2,713 x 1,920 pixels.

Digital Chat Station also suggests that the foldable iPhone will come with dual 48MP cameras, likely referring to a rear-facing dual-camera setup. There is no mention of the two front-facing cameras, which would presumably be located on the cover screen and beneath the inner display.

Based on these rumors, it seems unlikely that Apple is bringing anything particularly new or impressive to the table. The foldable iPhone’s screen size appears to be smaller than the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s rumored 8.2-inch main display. The camera specs aren’t especially exciting either. Since the device has not yet entered mass production, though, some changes may still be on the way.

There is, however, one area where Apple might get things right, and it’s something other manufacturers could take note of. Apple might use liquid metal in the hinge and titanium for the external frame. While it’s too early to draw conclusions about durability, this suggests Apple may be prioritizing build quality in a way that stands out. Moreover, recent reports suggest that Apple has tapped Samsung Display for foldable OLED production.
