Samsung Display and LG Display begin mass panel production for iPad Pro (2025)

First reported by ZDNet Korea (via MacRumors), Samsung Display and LG Display have begun mass production of OLED panels for the upcoming 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro models (2025). What’s different this time is that both display giants will share responsibility for producing panels for both sizes. Unlike last year when each handled just one.

Apple iPad Pro 2024

Apple is expected to introduce significant upgrades to the new iPad Pro lineup. One of the biggest changes is the switch to OLED displays, offering better color accuracy, deeper blacks, and improved energy efficiency compared to the current LCD technology. Alongside this visual leap, the new iPad Pro is also expected to debut the M5 chip.

Arguably, the M5 chip is the most important upgrade coming to the new iPad Pro. Once officially introduced in the 2025 iPad Pro models, the M5 is expected to power the next-generation MacBook Pro later that year, followed by the MacBook Air in 2026. That’s typically how Apple rolls out its new silicon, as seen with the recent M4 MacBook Air.

Another noteworthy change could be the repositioning of the Apple logo on the back of the device. Instead of the traditional portrait alignment, the logo may shift to a landscape orientation. This subtle but meaningful tweak would better reflect how users increasingly use iPads in landscape mode. Currently in developer beta, iPadOS 26 appears to be further closing the gap between the iPad and Mac.

Additional reports suggest the iPad Mini will adopt an OLED display in 2026, followed by the iPad Air in 2027. As Apple continues expanding OLED technology across its tablet lineup, manufacturers like Samsung Display stand to gain significantly.
