The good news is that you can quickly fix the issue with the usual workaround: leaving the beta program.

While Google’s beta tester program lets you get early access to new features in Android Auto, it sometimes carries bugs as well. According to 9to5Google, Android Auto 15.2 introduces a bug in the music player widget’s background, causing the text to become nearly unreadable. The widget displays the song title, artist, and album art with simple playback buttons.

Several affected users took to Reddit to complain that the beta version of Android Auto has washed out on the media window. While the company has yet to acknowledge the bug, users are saying that it is because of the conflict between the new light and dark themes. It looks like the system turned on the light version of the music player by default, with no way to switch to the dark version. If Android Auto starts while the car is in night mode (headlights on), the problem doesn’t show up.

Of course, the company will likely fix this in an upcoming beta build or directly in the next stable version. But as of now, the easiest solution is to leave the beta program and move to the current stable version of Android Auto, which is 15.0. To do this, you first need to go to the opt-out page and choose Leave the program. While this is not the ideal way to fix the problem, it will at least restore the music player widget to a readable state, allowing you to enjoy a seamless in-car entertainment experience.
