Android Auto Gets Material You Support, But Not Everyone Has It Yet

Google is making Android Auto feel a lot more personal. A new update adds full support for Material You color accents, so now your car’s display can match the colors of your phone’s wallpaper. It’s a small touch, but it makes the whole setup feel more connected.
Android Auto finally feels like an extension of your phone with Material You integration
According to a report from 9to5Google, Android Auto version 14.9 is getting a more personal touch with full Material You theming across the interface.
Unlike earlier versions that offered just a handful of color presets, this update fully adapts the system’s accent colors, and even background tints, to match your current wallpaper. You’ll notice the changes in places like the Settings app and notification cards. The outlet has shared a few screenshots to give us the best look.
The theming responds quickly when you switch wallpapers, updating the interface colors almost instantly. That said, it’s still a bit hit-or-miss when it comes to manual color tweaks, like changing just the accent color without swapping the wallpaper.
While the feature is rolling out in the latest beta, some users on the stable version are already seeing it pop up. That points to a possible server-side rollout, so don’t be surprised if it doesn’t show up for everyone at the same time. As before, if you’ve turned off the option to match system colors with your wallpaper, the theming won’t kick in.
Even with a few quirks, this update is a big step forward in making Android Auto feel more in tune with your phone’s overall design. The smooth color transitions and modern style give your car’s screen a fresh, cohesive look that many users have been waiting for.
