Samsung Used 26 Galaxy S25 Ultra to Live Broadcast Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony

Samsung provided its Galaxy Z Flip 7 Olympic Edition to athletes competing at the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. The company also used its 26 Galaxy S25 Ultra smartphones to support the live broadcast of the Winter Olympics opening ceremony on February 6. This brought new camera views alongside conventional broadcast equipment to fans around the world.

Galaxy S25 Ultra played a key role for live broadcast experience

At Milano San Siro Olympic Stadium, more than 75,000 spectators and around 3,500 athletes gathered for the Opening Ceremony. While the Galaxy Z Flip 7 Olympic Edition helped athletes capture moments from the event, the Galaxy S25 Ultra also played a key role behind the scenes.

Samsung worked with Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) to place Galaxy S25 Ultra devices alongside broadcast cameras in key areas around the stadium. These locations were above the field, stadium stands, and athlete entrance tunnels. The devices captured live on-site views wirelessly in real time without disrupting established broadcast workflows.

This shows Samsung has made significant advancements in mobile photography. For the uninitiated, the Galaxy S25 Ultra (review) features a 200MP primary sensor, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and dual telephoto cameras that offer 3x (10MP) and 5x (50MP) optical zoom. Moreover, the phone supports 8K video recording for detailed footage.

Meanwhile, Samsung has lowered the price of the Galaxy S25 Ultra by $250. This comes just weeks before the debut of its next-generation Galaxy S26 Ultra (expected on February 25). This brings the price down to $1,049.99 from its regual $1,299.99. So, if you can’t wait for the next Galaxy model, the Galaxy S25 Ultra could be a solid pick at the currently discounted price.
