Samsung offers an advanced repair service that reduces costs for foldable customers and helps the environment. Dubbed foldable phone display unit repair, the service has now expanded to more locations across the company’s home country, South Korea. The newly available centers are Masan in Gyeongsangnam-do and Yeongju in Gyeongsangbuk-do.

Samsung helps customers save on foldable phone display repairs

In 2024, Samsung began offering single-piece foldable phone display repair services at 13 of its service centers. Last year, Samsung expanded the repair service by adding 11 new locations. As such, the number of centers offering the service increased to 158 from 147. With the addition of the two centers, the total number has now reached 160 (out of 169 service centers nationwide).

For the uninitiated, Samsung’s advanced repair method lets technicians replace only the damaged parts of a foldable phone display rather than replacing the whole display. This method needs specialized equipment and skilled engineers to precisely disassemble the display components, frame, and case.

However, the repair takes more than twice as long as a complete display replacement. The good thing is that it offers a bunch of benefits. For example, customers can pay only for the parts that need replacement, saving money (by an average of 26% and up to 37%). The cumulative savings for customers have already surpassed KRW 8 billion. Furthermore, Samsung can reduce electronic waste and boost environmental sustainability.

“We are enhancing the service experience for Galaxy users through individual display repairs. We will continue to provide services that meet the needs of our customers’ daily lives,” said Park Sung-jae, Senior Vice President and Head of the Samsung Electronics Service Technology Team.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold and Flip series have come a long way, featuring cutting-edge display technology. However, when it comes to repairs, these innovative displays can be very expensive. Thankfully, the Korean firm offers an advanced repair solution for its foldable displays, so customers no longer need to worry about high repair costs.
