Samsung started its foldable journey with the Galaxy Fold in 2019. Since then, its portfolio of foldable smartphones has evolved, with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 coming up in a few months. As display plays a crucial role in foldable devices, the company has several display-focused service centers called “Foldable Phone Display Unit Repair”. The Korean firm has now expanded this network by adding 11 new centers in its home country.

Samsung opens new foldable display repair centers in Korea

Starting June 1, the Korean firm will expand the number of “Foldable Phone Display Unit Repair” service centers from 147 to 158. The 11 newly added locations are Euljiro, Yeouido, Yongin-gu, Taebaek, Bukcheonan, Sejong, Geochang, Mungyeong, Sangju, Yeongdeok, and Miryang. This expansion will improve service convenience for Galaxy users nationwide.

Samsung Electronics Service Technology Team Leader Park Sung-jae said, “We are continuously strengthening our services to provide a differentiated Galaxy user experience. We will achieve customer satisfaction with services that consider not only customers but also the environment.”

Samsung is making efforts to reduce component waste in its products to support a sustainable environment. Its display unit repair is the industry’s first eco-friendly method. The company first separates display parts, frames, cases, etc, and then replaces only the necessary parts. However, this process requires advanced equipment and a high level of technical skills.

This method not only helps reduce e-waste but also lowers repair costs for customers. While the repair takes a bit more time due to precise disassembly and reassembly, it can cut repair costs by an average of 26% and up to 37%. Meanwhile, with the launch of One UI 8, Samsung is simplifying the Galaxy repair experience. You can now register your phone at repair centers with QR or NFC without having to write any registration forms.

The Korean firm is now gearing up for the launch of its new foldables sometime in July 2025. The lineup will include its book-style Galaxy Z Fold 7 and clamshell-style Galaxy Z Flip 7. There’s chatter that an affordable foldable device, the Galaxy Z Flip FE, may also join the lineup.
