Samsung Prepares One UI 8 Watch Beta, Watch Manager Apps Updated

Earlier this week, Samsung released One UI 8 beta for the Galaxy S25 series, allowing users to try out its Android 16 update early. Now, the company is gearing up to launch a beta program for One UI 8 Watch, its next smartwatch platform based on Wear OS 6. The Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra may soon get beta updates.

Samsung readies One UI 8 Watch beta update for Galaxy watches

In a key step toward a beta rollout, Samsung has released updates to the Galaxy Watch Manager B and Watch 7 Manager B apps. These utility apps are essential for smartwatch functionality with connected Galaxy or Android smartphones. Notably, the company doesn’t update these apps frequently, so the timing strongly suggests that the One UI 8 Watch beta is imminent.

The beta program may begin in early June with the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra. Samsung may or may not extend the beta update to older models. The One UI 8 beta update is also initially limited to the latest flagship models, i.e., the Galaxy S25 series. However, it should be available for a few more devices in the coming weeks.

These beta launches fit with Samsung’s broader schedule, as the official unveiling of One UI 8 and One UI 8 Watch is set for July’s Unpacked event. The Korean firm has already announced that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7 will ship with One UI 8 out of the box. Likewise, the Galaxy Watch 8 series should run the latest watch platform from day one.
