Samsung’s December 2025 security update is now available for the Galaxy A56 and Galaxy A55. As usual, the update improves security and stability for both devices, keeping them protected against newly discovered threats. The rollout begins in South Korea, but it should hit other regions in the coming weeks.

Galaxy A56 and A55 get Samsung’s December 2025 security update

The new firmware for the Galaxy A56 comes with build numbers ending in BYL2 or BYL1, while the Galaxy A55 is getting a version ending in CYL1. If you live in South Korea and own a Galaxy A56 or A55, you can check for the latest patch on the Settings page. Just go to Software update > Download and install, and your device will search for the new update. If it is available, you can download it right away and complete the installation by restarting.

While the update doesn’t bring fresh features or visual changes, you should install it as soon as possible because it includes important security fixes. The December update fixes 6 critical and 51 high-severity Android issues. Moreover, the company has addressed 11 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVEs) that affect its own software features.

Samsung is also rolling out the December update to several other Galaxy devices in phases, depending on the region. This includes the Galaxy A34, Tab S6 Lite, XCover 7, S25 series (including the FE model), Z Fold 7, and Z Flip 7. Meanwhile, if you own a Galaxy A34, you can now check for the update as the company has expanded the rollout globally this week.

Apart from the regular update, the Galaxy A56 has recently gained attention for a couple of reasons. Samsung appears to have extended security update support from six years to seven years. The company has also begun testing One UI 8.5, suggesting that the device may not have to wait long to get the new software experience.
