Samsung has quietly made a major change to its update policy for one of its latest mid-range smartphones. The company has extended the security update support for the Galaxy A56 to seven years. This is the first Galaxy A model to get seven years of updates, which is usually reserved for flagship phones.

Samsung brings flagship-level update policy for Galaxy A56

First spotted by Sammyfans, Samsung has updated the official product pages for the Galaxy A56 in multiple regions, including the UK and India. These listings now show that the device will get security updates until March 2032, instead of the originally promised March 2031. This confirms that the phone is now part of the company’s seven-year security support cycle.

This move is unusual because Samsung usually doesn’t change a device’s support policy after launch. When the Galaxy A56 was introduced in March 2025, the company promised six years of security updates. That keeps it already ahead of what most rival mid-range devices offer. Now, Samsung appears to be pushing even further to stand out in the mid-range market, not only with compelling features but also with long-term software support.

While there’s still a possibility that this could be an error, the extended date’s appearance across multiple regional listings suggests it is intentional. Another reason to believe is that Samsung’s latest entry-level Galaxy Tab A11 series also offers a seven-year security update, making it the first Tab A lineup to do so.

Meanwhile, even though the Galaxy A36 launched alongside the A56, Samsung has not extended its support timeline. The A36’s official product pages still mention March 2031, which is the original six-year promise. This suggests that, at least for now, the seven-year policy is available for the Galaxy A56. We should learn whether this is intentional or an error in the coming months.
