Having wrapped up the One UI 8 rollout for phones and tablets, Samsung is turning its full attention to wearables. Days after a global release of the stable One UI 8 Watch update for the Galaxy Watch 6 series, the Watch 5 lineup has joined the party. That leaves just the Galaxy Watch 4 series and the Watch FE to complete Samsung’s 2025 smartwatch software cycle.

Galaxy Watch 5 series makes the jump to One UI 8

A couple of weeks ago, Samsung rolled out the second One UI 8 Watch beta update for the Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro. Now, the company has released the stable version, starting in Korea. Users are reportedly picking up the stable build with firmware version DYK4. A wider availability is expected to follow in the coming days.

As mentioned, Samsung has already rolled out this update for the Galaxy Watch 6 series — and all newer models. The Watch 4 and Watch FE are unlikely to receive beta builds, but the stable rollout may begin before the end of the year, especially since the company appears to be in a rush to wrap up this chapter soon.

Based on Wear OS 6, One UI 8 Watch delivers a noticeable boost in visual polish, speed, and battery efficiency. Samsung has refreshed animations, added cleaner transitions, and tuned the UI across the system for a smoother feel. Apps launch faster, background processes run leaner, and battery life should improve as a result.

A highlight of this update is the Now Bar, surfacing real-time notifications from essential apps without forcing users to dig through menus. Samsung has also added an upgraded Tile system that presents quick, context-aware information from your most-used activities. Additionally, One UI 8 Watch brings new health features and enhancements.

You can install the new software through the Galaxy Wearable app. Go to Watch settings > Software update > Download and install to check for updates manually.
