Expect No Surprises: The Galaxy S26 Series Will Mirror the 2025 Lineup

The last few days have been all about the Galaxy S26 series and which phones will launch early next year. In case you didn’t know, multiple sources have confirmed that Samsung is dropping the Galaxy S26 Edge. Another report suggested that Samsung won’t release the Galaxy S26 Pro and will stick with just a standard Galaxy S26. So, what’s changing? Probably not much when it comes to the naming.
Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra coming early 2026
In line with what the rumor mill has suggested, yet another reliable tipster, Yogesh Brar, says that Samsung won’t debut either the Galaxy S26 Pro or the Galaxy S26 Edge. That leaves us with just three phones at launch, at least for now: the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Brar adds, however, that Samsung seems to have “given up on thin and light phones,” though he qualifies that with “for now.” Of course, anything can change in future iterations, but for 2026, the chances of Samsung going for the slimmest design are very slim. Pun intended.
Another report suggested that Samsung might delay the Galaxy S26 series launch, but I don’t think that will happen. I have a few reasons for this, which you can read about in a separate article. Beyond that, rumors suggest that Samsung will equip the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ with the 2nm Exynos 2600, while the Galaxy S26 Ultra will feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.
Camera specifications remain mostly unconfirmed, though some leaks hint at no major upgrades. Firmware builds provide a rough picture, but they can’t be entirely reliable given all the changes happening inside Samsung. Whether Samsung will upgrade the sensors on the standard Galaxy S26 remains to be seen. Still, there is hope that Samsung will add some extra features to make up for what’s missing.
