Galaxy Watch FE Picks Up Fresh Update, One UI 8 Watch May Follow Soon

Samsung is rolling out a new software update for the Galaxy Watch FE in the United States. The Fan Edition watch, which remains the only model in the lineup so far, is receiving a security patch with no additional changes. However, this could be a prelude to the major One UI 8 Watch update, expected to arrive in the coming weeks.
Galaxy Watch FE grabs a security update in the US
Although it’s already October 2025, the latest update for the Galaxy Watch FE only brings the August 2025 security patch. Still, it’s a welcome release, as it enhances the watch’s security and overall performance. The update carries the firmware version R866USQS1AYH1 and is now available for download nationwide.
“The current software update provides the most up to date Android security patches for your device,” the official changelog states. This confirms that Samsung hasn’t added any new features or interface changes this time. Instead, the update focuses on fixing critical security vulnerabilities and improving system stability. These fixes help protect the smartwatch from bugs or issues that could affect reliability or data safety.
The most affordable watch in Samsung’s lineup yet, the Galaxy Watch FE is essentially a rebadged Watch 4 with a few changes. It offers solid fitness tracking, heart rate monitoring, sleep insights, and notification support. The device is eligible for the Wear OS 6-based One UI 8 Watch update. The big feature update may arrive before the end of the year.
Ahead of that, Samsung is pushing a security patch to the watch. If you own a Galaxy Watch FE, you can install the latest update through the Galaxy Wearable app on your connected phone. Navigate to Watch settings > Watch software update > Download and install. Make sure your watch has enough battery and remains connected during the process.
