This Notification Summaries Concept Makes So Much Sense, Honestly

One UI 8 may be one of the most refined software experiences yet; however, there are certain features we’d like to see in the upcoming One UI 8.5 update. Notably, AI-powered Notification summaries is one of them, and a recent report suggests that this feature may finally arrive with the Galaxy S26 series running the One UI 8.5 update.

One UI 8.5 looks sure to bring Notification Summaries, but until then, this concept will have to do

We’ve yet to see how it would perform in real life, or what approaches Samsung might take to ensure it doesn’t suffer the same fate as iOS 18’s implementation. For context, Apple had to temporarily disable AI-powered news summaries because they started generating inaccurate information. How Samsung will handle this remains to be seen, but today, a concept for notification summaries caught my attention.

X user @jdshruan (via @theonecid) created a concept illustrating what Notification Summaries and Priority features might look like on One UI. More importantly, they mentioned that they made this “a while ago,” but I’d argue it makes perfect sense. SammyGuru’s Josh also chimed in, noting that the concept aligns with what leaked materials since One UI 7 have suggested. Now, take a look:

As you can see, tapping the Galaxy AI icon prompts you to choose whether you want to Summarize notifications or Prioritize them. When you select Summarize, it presents the key points in a box reminiscent of Now Brief. Choosing Prioritize moves the most important notifications to the top.

Of course, this is just a concept, and the main thing to focus on here is the UI, where I believe @jdshruan has done an excellent job. I really hope Samsung adopts a similar — and even better — approach for the final build. The One UI 8.5 beta could roll out next month, but it’s still unclear whether it will include support for Notification Summaries.
