As always, this year’s festive season in India was full of excitement for smartphone buyers. Among all the brands, Samsung stood out, leading the smartphone sales charts during the first wave, which ran from September 22 to October 2. Thanks to the company’s wide range of phones across different price segments and great discounts, it attracted a large number of customers.

Samsung outsold all other brands during the first wave of the festive sale

According to data from TechInsights Mobile End Markets, Samsung captured an 18% share of the overall smartphone market (online + offline) during the festive sale. This makes the company the top-selling brand during the first wave of the festive season. It was the most preferred brand for online buyers, holding a 19% market share across Flipkart, Amazon, and other platforms.

Samsung introduced some of the best festive deals on its popular Galaxy models. For example, the Galaxy S24 was available on Flipkart for INR 39,999, compared to its regular price of INR 64,999. Likewise, Amazon listed the Galaxy S24 Ultra for INR 71,999, down from INR 97,999. Industry analyst Abhilash Kumar said these discounts significantly boosted the appeal of Samsung’s premium phones among buyers.

Furthermore, Samsung also saw solid demand for its Galaxy S24 FE, A35, A55, M16, and M36 models. The company’s Galaxy S series contributed the most to overall sales, followed by the A, M, and F series. This shows how its balanced product lineup fulfills the needs of different kinds of buyers.

Speaking of other brands, Apple secured the second spot with a 16% overall market share. The company sold nearly one million units of the iPhone 16 series thanks to exciting deals on Pro models. Meanwhile, Vivo (including iQOO) also secured a 16% share, mainly due to the brand’s wide offline distribution network.

Kumar added that focusing on offline channels during the second and third waves of the festive season could lead to even stronger sales. It will be interesting to see if Samsung can maintain its lead in the upcoming festive waves.
