Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra has had one of its last big secrets revealed, and it may disappoint a few. Rumors have already pointed to an unchanged battery capacity, and a regulatory certification now confirms it. The next Ultra flagship looks set to feature that same 5,000mAh battery, though Samsung may have reduced the phone’s weight and thickness.

Galaxy S26 Ultra may feature a 5,000mAh battery in a slimmer and lighter body

China Quality Certification Center recently certified a Samsung battery with model numbers EB-BS948ABY and EB-BS948ABE. These cells are intended for the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra (SM-S948). The listing reveals a rated capacity of 4,855mAh, identical to that of the S25 Ultra. As usual, this will be marketed as a 5,000mAh unit, marking the seventh consecutive generation of Samsung flagships to retain the same battery capacity.

Rumors had suggested that the 2026 Ultra might see a bump to around 5,500mAh, but that’s clearly not the case. Instead, Samsung appears to be using any space saved through design upgrades to make the phone slimmer and lighter. This fits the company’s new design philosophy for Galaxy flagships: prioritizing a sleek, lightweight build over larger batteries. This approach has worked so far, so Samsung is in no rush to change it.

Speaking of a thinner build, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is rumored to measure under 8mm (S25 Ultra is 8.2mm, while the S24 Ultra is 8.6mm). To look back, the S21 Ultra had a 5,000mAh battery in an 8.9mm body, so Samsung has managed to keep the same battery in a 1mm slimmer profile. If the rumors of 60-65W charging support on the S26 Ultra hold, most users shouldn’t mind a 5,000mAh battery. More so because Samsung has been focusing on software optimizations, AI-driven power management, and chipset efficiency to extend usage time.
