Galaxy S26 Edge Could Feature an Even Bigger Battery

A recent leak revealed that Samsung might equip the Galaxy S26 Edge with a 4,200mAh battery. That’s a solid upgrade over the 3,900mAh unit in its predecessor, more so because the upcoming model is expected to be slimmer. But the news doesn’t stop there. Reliable tipster Ice Universe hints that the battery could go even higher, possibly hitting 4,400mAh. While he admits the info isn’t fully confirmed yet, it’s clear that Samsung has some bold plans for its next ultra-thin flagship.

Samsung plans big battery upgrades for the Galaxy S26 Edge

The Galaxy S26 Edge, which carries the model number SM-S947 and the codename M2, will be the middle child in Samsung’s 2026 flagship lineup. The company may ditch the Plus model to make room for the Edge in the main lineup. In fact, the Korean firm is gearing up for a major strategic overhaul next year. It may drop the base Galaxy S26 and introduce an all-new S26 Pro.

Recent discoveries suggest the Galaxy S26 Edge has a rated capacity of 4,078mAh, which generally translates to a 4,200mAh typical capacity. As mentioned above, the S25 Edge packs a 3,900mAh cell, so we are looking at a 300mAh battery boost. Or a 500mAh boost if the latest rumor holds. What makes this upgrade even more impressive is the upcoming phone’s expected thinness. Rumors suggest the S26 Edge will be even slimmer than the S25 Edge’s 5.8mm profile.

Given the current limits of battery tech, a larger cell in an even thinner body would be quite a feat. According to Ice Universe, a 4,500mAh battery is about the maximum capacity achievable using silicon-carbon technology in a 5.8mm shell with an overall size identical to the Galaxy S25 Edge. A 4,200–4,400mAh battery in the S26 Edge seems realistic, and Samsung may push its engineering to the edge. We shall find out soon.
