Samsung’s first-gen slim flagship, the Galaxy S25 Edge, may not have been a huge success, but the company plans to keep the lineup. In fact, it may drop the Plus model to make room for the Galaxy S26 Edge next year. The new model could bring substantial upgrades, including a bigger battery in a slimmer profile. Fresh insight from an industry expert gives us a fair idea of how big the battery could be.

Galaxy S26 Edge’s battery details revealed in new leak

At 5.8mm, the Galaxy S25 Edge is substantially thinner than regular smartphones, which typically measure upwards of 7mm. However, it also features a relatively small battery of just 3,900mAh capacity. Samsung aims to address this issue with the next-gen model. The Galaxy S26 Edge is rumored to pack a bigger battery, though the exact capacity remains under wraps.

Interestingly, since slimness is the signature feature of the Edge lineup, Samsung plans to increase the battery capacity next year while still making the device smaller. It may look like the company is defying physics with the Galaxy S26 Edge, but it’s an engineering feat made possible by a shift to next-gen battery materials, likely silicon-carbon anodes. These advanced cells offer higher energy density than conventional graphite-based lithium-ion batteries, allowing more power in the same physical space.

Reliable tipster Ice Universe recently hinted at the battery capacity of the Galaxy S26 Edge. According to them, the thinnest possible battery based on silicon-carbon tech inside a 5.8mm profile maxes out at 4500mAh. Since the S26 Edge is thinner, it could realistically accommodate something in the 4200–4400mAh range. That would be a substantial upgrade from the S25 Edge’s 3900mAh.

When combined with Samsung’s efficiency improvements in One UI 8 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 or Exynos 2600 chips, the Galaxy S26 Edge could offer a substantially improved battery life. If the company somehow manages to put a zoom camera in there, the Edge lineup could quickly carve out a market for itself.
