Samsung Claims Galaxy Z Flip 7 Matches Fold 7’s Impressive Durability

You’ve got two great picks if you’re in the market for foldables. There’s no denying that Samsung has really hit the nail on the head with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7. In particular, the former is flying off the shelves in key markets, including the US. When it comes to foldables, durability has often been the elephant in the room, but thankfully, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 changes the game.
Can the Galaxy Z Flip 7 match Fold 7’s durability? Samsung says yes
According to tests carried out by the French testing firm, Bureau Veritas, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 can withstand over 500,000 folds. That’s a quantum leap compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 5, which was rated for just over 200,000 folds. But can the Galaxy Z Flip 7 hold its own in terms of durability? That’s a question that’s likely been on everyone’s mind after hearing the impressive reports about the Fold 7. As it turns out, Samsung says the Flip 7 can definitely hold its own and match that toughness.
Android Authority asked Samsung Display about the Galaxy Z Flip 7, and the company has put our doubts to rest.
In response to your follow-up question, the test commissioned to Bureau Veritas (sic) was conducted exclusively on the foldable panel used in the flagship model, Galaxy Z Fold 7. However, we internally assess that the foldable panel used in Galaxy Z Flip 7 also offers durability on par with that of Fold 7, as it incorporates various durability-enhancing technologies as well.

In simple terms, Bureau Veritas didn’t test the Galaxy Z Flip 7’s durability. But Samsung says it’s just as strong as the Fold 7. That means it should handle 500,000 folds at room temperature. It can also manage 300,000 folds at 60 degrees Celsius. Even in cold conditions, at -20 degrees Celsius, it should withstand 60,000 folds. These numbers show Samsung’s confidence in the Flip 7’s durability.
