Samsung has begun rolling out the first software update for the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, and Flip 7 FE. These devices were launched earlier this month. The retail availability started in South Korea on July 21, 2025, and expanded to other regions on July 25.

Samsung kicks off seven-year update cycle with first update to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7 series

South Korean customers received the initial software update on the day the devices went on sale. Now, Samsung is delivering the same update to international users of the new foldable phones. The build versions for the updates are F966BXXS2AYGG for the Galaxy Z Fold 7, F766BXXS2AYGD for the Galaxy Z Flip 7, and F761BXXS2AYG5 for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE.

Samsung hasn’t shared all the details about the new software update yet. But it looks like this early update is mainly meant to fix problems and improve security. This kind of update is normal soon after a new phone is released to fix any early issues.

The update doesn’t add any new features or design changes. However, Samsung has said that bigger updates with new looks and features will come later. These larger updates will likely arrive around the same time as the next Galaxy S phones. Even though Samsung’s foldable phones now get the latest version of its software first, the company still plans to bring major new features in future updates. On that note, the One UI 8.5 will arrive next year, possibly after the Galaxy S26 series launch.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 mark a quantum leap in the lineup. For those looking for a more budget-friendly foldable, there’s also the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. Our reviews for all the phones will be dropping soon, so keep an eye for them. In related news, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has turned out to be blockbuster in several important markets, including the US.
