Some Galaxy S23 Users Report Camera Downgrade After One UI 7 Update

It’s been some time since Samsung began rolling out the Android 15-based One UI 7 update. The Galaxy S23 series picked up the update around late April 2025. But after all that waiting, many Galaxy S23 owners aren’t too pleased, having run into camera issues.
Galaxy S23 owners unhappy with camera quality after the update
According to user reports across Samsung’s community forums and Reddit (via TechIssuesToday), photos taken after the update appear blurry, washed out, and less detailed. Problems range from distant scenery coming out soft to close-ups lacking clarity. Even in good lighting, some users claim colors are muted or over-processed.
Anyone else’s camera just start washing out colors loke this randomly? These photos looked spot on perfect on my screen before i took the photo….seems every photo i take lacks color saturation.

The issues are not limited to still photography. Several users have reported increased lag in the Galaxy S23’s Camera app, particularly when switching between modes or lenses. In some cases, there is a delay of several seconds between taking a photo and seeing its preview. Affected devices include the base Galaxy S23, the S23 Ultra, and the S23 FE. One S23 FE owner noted that night photography is “very poor” compared to the performance on One UI 6.1.
Many have tried different fixes, including clearing the camera cache, resetting settings, and disabling features like Scene Optimizer. Suggestions such as using Pro Mode or turning off vibration feedback have also surfaced on Reddit, but the results remain hit or miss.
So far, Samsung has not released an official statement regarding the camera performance issues. However, community moderators have encouraged users to submit detailed error reports through the Samsung Members app, including log files to help identify the root cause.
It is unclear how widespread the issue is, but it is definitely not an isolated case. A few Galaxy S21 FE and S24 users have reported similar problems, although most of the camera complaints are coming from the S23 lineup.
