Samsung Rolls Out June 2025 Update for Galaxy S21 Lineup in the US

Samsung has just released a new software update for the Galaxy S21 lineup in the US. The update is rolling out to all four models, including the Galaxy S21 FE, which often doesn’t get the same treatment as its flagship siblings. The devices are picking up the June 2025 security patch with several dozen vulnerability fixes.

Over the past few weeks, Samsung has rolled out its June SMR (Security Maintenance Release) to over a dozen Galaxy devices. This update addresses over 60 vulnerabilities across One UI and Android OS components. The Galaxy S21 series is the latest to receive these security fixes, with carrier-locked variants in the US leading the charge. A wider rollout should follow soon.

Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra users with a carrier-locked unit can identify the June 2025 update with the firmware build number G99*USQSGHYF2. That for the Galaxy S21 FE is G990USQSHHYF4. None of these devices is getting anything more than this month’s 60-odd security fixes.

This isn’t surprising, though. All four models recently received Android 15-based One UI 7 with tons of new features and enhancements. It was the last major OS upgrade for the flagship trio, as they have already picked up four generations of Android OS updates. Going forward, the Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra will only get security updates.

The Galaxy S21 FE, on the other hand, still has more to come. It remains eligible for Android 16-based One UI 8. It should also receive One UI 8.5 before transitioning into the security-only phase of its lifecycle.
