The Samsung Galaxy S25 series is launching this week. At Galaxy Unpacked on January 22, Samsung will pull the wraps off the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra. But as the big day approaches, there’s some potentially disappointing “RAM” news for US buyers of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Unfortunately, it’s not exactly a shocker. We’ve heard this before. In fact, rumors had already hinted that the Galaxy S25 Ultra might come with 12GB of RAM instead of the expected 16GB. And now, a new report is backing that up.
Galaxy S25 Ultra could pack 12GB RAM in the US
In most markets, including the US, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will come with 12GB of RAM in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage variants. However, in Asian markets like China, South Korea, India, and Vietnam, Samsung is more likely to bring these storage options combined with 16GB RAM. This comes from noted tipster @chunvn8888, who also reported a few days ago that the Galaxy S25 base variant will start with 12GB+256GB in Asian markets, while European markets will get a 12GB+128GB configuration.

As for the rumored 12GB RAM setup, leaked specs from two reliable sources also confirm the same. It’s unclear whether Samsung will release a 16GB RAM variant in markets outside of Asia later, but it’s certainly plausible. That said, all three models — the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra — will pack the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip under the hood.
After Samsung unveils the new phones on January 22, pre-orders could go live on January 24. Shipping will start on February 3, and the phones will officially hit the shelves on February 9 in most markets.
