Samsung’s Galaxy S25 lineup will be official in a week. The company will unveil three new flagships at its Unpacked event next Wednesday, January 22. Pre-orders should begin immediately after launch, with rumors hinting at a price hike in most markets. Unfortunately, despite a higher starting price, Samsung may not offer more storage on the base variant globally. The entry-level Galaxy S25 may still come with 128GB of storage in some regions.

Galaxy S25’s base variant still has 128GB of storage

Early rumors suggested a RAM and storage boost for Samsung’s Galaxy S25. The company was expected to offer 12GB of RAM as standard across the lineup, with the Ultra model also coming in 16GB RAM variants. This may be true, as there’s no evidence of an 8GB model. However, the rumored storage upgrade may not materialize. If not globally, buyers in some markets look set to get 128GB of storage on the base Galaxy S25.

A European retailer recently confirmed the existence of a 128GB Galaxy S25, which still comes with a higher price tag than its predecessor. Meanwhile, a Vietnamese retailer has now revealed that the phone features 256GB of storage on the base model. According to X tipster @chunvn8888, 12GB+256GB will be the entry-level configuration in Asian markets, while buyers in Europe will get a 12GB+128GB configuration as the most affordable option.

Samsung is likely to offer a free storage upgrade during the pre-order period. Buyers of the 128GB variant will receive the 256GB one at no additional cost, while 256GB orders will be upgraded to 512GB for free. This still doesn’t justify the company’s decision to launch a flagship with just 128GB of storage in 2025. More so when you have upgraded to 12GB of RAM. We hope Samsung actually scraps the 128GB version and offers at least 256GB of storage globally.
