X’s effort to make user profiles more transparent is finally going mainstream. After weeks of testing, the platform has begun rolling out its new profile information feature on Android. This follows last month’s rollout on the web and the iOS app, bringing the additional profile details to more users.

X rolls out its new profile information feature on Android

Ever since Elon Musk acquired Twitter and renamed it X, the platform has slowly introduced new safety and transparency features. Earlier this year, the company started experimenting with a new identity-focused change, showing additional profile details. A public rollout began last month, but Android users had to wait a bit longer.

Now, the latest update for the X app for Android brings this new profile section. You can access it by tapping “joined date” in your account details. A new page appears with additional details, including when and where the account was created, country of operation, username history, verification status, and more. By default, X shows the country you are based in. However, you can choose to show the region or continent.

For now, these details are only visible on your own profile. However, X will eventually open them up publicly, allowing users to verify whether an account is genuinely what it claims to be. Given X’s ongoing issues with impersonation, spam, and accounts that constantly switch identities to dodge moderation, this added transparency should make the platform feel a bit more trustworthy.

If you are an Android user and the new profile information is not yet live for you, try updating the app. We received the tool with version 11.40.0 of the X app for Android. The company is expected to further enhance this feature in the coming months, so stay tuned.
