Why September Could Be Samsung’s Biggest Month in Years

Alright, we’re in September, and it could turn out to be one of the most important months in Samsung’s recent history. Yes, if everything goes according to reports. We’re not talking about the upcoming Tab S11 series or even the Galaxy S25 FE, which might launch ahead of the IFA Berlin event. There are bigger plans in motion.
Three big surprises coming from Samsung on September 29, and we can’t wait!
Korean outlets, including NewsPim and Newsworks, report that September 29 will be the day Samsung unveils not one, not two, but three major surprises. These include the highly anticipated Galaxy Z TriFold (if that’s indeed the name!), the Project Moohan XR Headset, and an all-new AI smart glasses line. All of these are expected to make their debut on September 29.
Galaxy Z TriFold
Would you want to buy the Galaxy Z TriFold, which unfolds into three screens and promises triple the fun? Even if you do, getting your hands on one might be a bit of a challenge… at least for now. According to a report from ETNews, Samsung plans to ship only around 50,000 units. Understandably, this is Samsung’s first-generation trifold, so the company is likely playing it safe.

To put that into perspective, Samsung targeted over 500,000 units for the original Galaxy Fold back in 2019. The market for foldables is definitely in a much stronger position than it was six years ago. Still, Samsung probably doesn’t want to cannibalize the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which is already a big hit in most markets. Reports also suggest that the TriFold may have a limited release, with South Korea seeing it first. Pricing is expected to be around $3,000.
Samsung’s XR headset
Probably the most exciting announcement of the year is coming on September 29, when Samsung is expected to unveil its Android XR headset. It’s currently called Project Moohan—“moohan” means infinity in Korean. The final product name could be different, though. It might be called Galaxy Glasses, Galaxy XR, or whatever Samsung decides to go with.

We may also see a dedicated app to manage the XR headset, possibly called Glasses Manager. Companies like Samsung often file multiple trademarks to secure the final name. But hints and timing suggest a reveal is near. Via a patent, we exclusively learnt that Samsung’s XR headset could sync with other smart home devices—think smart lights, air conditioners, and even robot vacuums—to auto-optimize your environment.
Previous FCC filings confirm that the headset will eventually reach the US, though it’s unclear whether Samsung will launch it there right away. Pricing is expected to be around KRW 2.5–4 million, roughly $1,800–$2,000, making it a significantly more affordable option compared to the Apple Vision Pro, which retails at $3,500. Sales might begin on October 13, and again, in South Korea only.
AI smart glasses
Samsung’s upcoming AI glasses are reportedly called “Project Haean” internally. In Korean, Haean means “seaside” or “coast.” These glasses are expected to focus on audio, using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1+ Gen 1 chip. It will include a camera, microphone, and speakers.
They are said to be able to take photos and videos, answer questions with an AI assistant, and provide information about what you’re looking at. They will presumably have a dedicated app, similar to Samsung’s XR headset.
While there’s no word on the price yet, they are expected to be more affordable than the Galaxy XR headset. Samsung may be aiming to compete with Meta, which has already found a niche in this type of wearable.
Which one of these are you most excited to try?
