WhatsApp has started testing two new features to make the messaging platform more engaging. The new tools mainly focus on making the platform more interactive while helping users reserve a unique identity. These features are currently available for beta users and may reach the stable channel in the coming weeks.

Two new exciting WhatsApp features are coming soon

Starting with the Status Questions feature, WhatsApp is making status updates more engaging. It lets you add a question sticker directly to your status where you can ask a question. When your contacts see your status, they can type their responses directly into the question box. This eliminates the need to create a separate question status just to get feedback or suggestions from your contacts.

For example, when you post a photo of your new outfit, you can put the question sticker asking, “Which color looks better on me?” When someone responds to your question, you will receive a notification. You can then view all answers directly from the viewers’ list. If you see an interesting response, you can even share it as a new status without revealing who sent it. Needless to say, all responses are end-to-end encrypted.

Now, coming to the second feature, WhatsApp will let users secure a unique identity on its platform. It will introduce a reserve username feature where you can create a unique name that others can use to contact you. Note that the search by username feature is still in the testing phase. However, ahead of its official rollout, the company will likely open early reservations of usernames.

Of course, you need to follow some rules when creating a username. It must include at least one letter, and can only use lowercase letters, numbers, periods, or underscores. Moreover, it must be between 3 and 30 characters long. Usernames can not start with www. or end with domains like .com or .net. We’ll be sure to let you know when the company makes these new features available for everyone.
