Vivo today unveiled the latest X300 and X300 Pro in Shanghai. These devices succeed the X200 and X200 Pro, a series that has already earned a solid reputation for its cameras. Notably, the Vivo X300 series makes extensive use of Samsung camera sensors.

Vivo X300 and X300 Pro use Samsung camera sensors, quite heavily!

Both newly launched phones, the Vivo X300 and X300 Pro, use Samsung sensors, quite extensively in fact. Since these devices are poised to make a name for themselves once again in the camera department, let’s take a closer look at exactly how Samsung is lending a hand.

Vivo X300 Pro

The Vivo X300 has a 200MP Samsung ISOCELL HPB main camera with an f/1.68 aperture, letting you capture sharp images and crop without losing detail. Its ultrawide and front cameras use 50MP Samsung JN1 sensors, keeping high resolution in a compact design.

The Vivo X300 Pro mixes Sony and Samsung sensors. Its main camera is a 50MP Sony LYT-828 with gimbal-style stabilization and an f/1.57 aperture, optimized for low light rather than just megapixels. The telephoto camera uses a 200MP Samsung ISOCELL HPB sensor for detailed shots at longer distances and works with Vivo’s telephoto extender lens. Like the X300, the ultrawide and selfie cameras are 50MP Samsung JN1 sensors.

The HPB sensors deliver excellent resolution for the main and telephoto cameras, while the smaller JN1 sensors handle ultrawide and selfie shots without making the phones bulky. Note that the 200MP Samsung ISOCELL HBP is actually a heavily customized HP9 variant, co-developed by Vivo and Samsung.

Moreover, Vivo’s X300 series is now available in China, with a global rollout expected in select markets in 2025. In China, the X300 starts at CNY 4,399 ($620), whereas the X300 Pro starts at CNY 5,299 ($745). Both offer 12GB/256GB as the base variant. Under the hood, both the phones pack MediaTek’s latest Dimensity 9500 chipset.
