This New Archery Game Uses Your Phone’s USB-C Port as a Controller

Last week, we saw a new addition to experimental games for foldables. These games use the phone’s hinge as a controller. The first one was Foldy Bird, followed by a cool origami game. However, not everyone has a foldable, right?
Meet Charchery
The developer behind Foldy Bird, @rebane2001, has now created a new game, called Charchery, that almost anyone with a USB-C phone can play. The gameplay is simple: you shoot enemies with a bow. You use your phone’s gyroscope to look around. And, you use the USB-C charging port to shoot arrows. These experimental games have grown rapidly over the past few weeks, pushing developers to think outside the box when it comes to new ways of interacting with games.

Cool idea, but we don’t recommend it
Charchery actually uses your device’s USB-C port to release arrows at enemies. The result is a more realistic feel, as you would need to pull the bow to charge the arrow and release it to shoot. So while all of this sounds fun, there are some potential risks, and one of which is that it could cause both the USB-C cable and the phone’s port to wear out faster than they should.
Keep in mind that USB-C is what your phone uses to charge the battery that powers everything else. Like we mentioned earlier, these projects feel more like experiments than something genuinely useful. Repeatedly using them could significantly shorten your device’s lifespan by wearing down critical components such as the charging port or, in case of foldables, the hinge that already needs careful handling.
You can try the game out of curiosity, but it’s probably best not to make a habit of playing it this way.
