Tecno might not be the first brand that comes to mind when you think of foldables, but its latest concept phone deserves attention. Tecno’s Phantom Ultimate G Fold offers one of the clearest glimpses yet of the kind of design Samsung is reportedly exploring for its Galaxy Z TriFold.
Tecno’s Phantom Ultimate G Fold looks solid, but it’s still a concept phone
The Phantom Ultimate G Fold is still a concept, and Tecno doesn’t plan to release it anytime soon. What makes it interesting, though, is how polished and realistic it already looks. It features a 9.94-inch display that folds inward from both sides, keeping the screen completely protected when closed.

This “G-style” folding design is exactly what we expect Samsung to use in its long-rumored tri-fold, which is reportedly set to launch in October. But for now, it’s Tecno that’s showing it off, and in a surprisingly refined package.
When folded, the Phantom Ultimate G Fold measures just 11.49 millimeters thick. That’s slimmer than Huawei’s Mate XT tri-fold at 12.8 millimeters, and possibly even thinner than Samsung’s upcoming model. When fully opened, it could measure only 3.49 millimeters, thanks to a dual-hinge system.
It also includes a cover display for regular phone use, a triple-camera setup, and a battery rated at over 5,000 mAh, though the exact specifications haven’t been confirmed. Tecno says it used ultra-strong materials, including 2,000MPa steel and a 0.3-millimeter Titan Fiber backplate, to keep the phone both thin and durable.
Tecno plans to officially unveil the G Fold at Mobile World Congress in February 2026. By then, Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold will already be available. And we’ll finally get a chance to compare the two side by side. Fingers crossed.
For now, Tecno’s concept might be the clearest look yet at where foldables are headed. It may still be a prototype, but the Phantom Ultimate G Fold could be the most complete tri-fold design we’ve seen so far.
