Samsung Wallet Adds Support for Digital Home Keys

Samsung has announced that Galaxy users can now store and use Digital Home Keys in Samsung Wallet. This means they can unlock compatible smart locks using their Galaxy phones. The feature runs on Aliro, which is a new smart lock access standard from the CSA. It expands Samsung’s digital key support beyond cars and into the home.

Once a Matter-compatible smart lock is added through SmartThings, users can save a Digital Home Key directly to Samsung Wallet during setup. Depending on the lock’s hardware, Galaxy phones can unlock doors by tapping via NFC or automatically when brought nearby using Ultra Wideband (UWB).

Samsung protects the keys with Knox and designs them to meet EAL6+ security certification standards. If a device is lost, users can remotely manage or revoke access through Samsung Find. The system requires biometric or PIN authentication to use or modify stored keys.
At launch, Samsung is working with smart lock brands including Aqara, Nuki, Schlage, and Xthings (Ultraloq). Availability will begin rolling out in select markets this month and expand alongside compatible lock releases. With this update, Samsung Wallet is becoming a much more useful app. It already lets you store digital car keys, IDs, travel passes, credit cards, and more.
In a statement, Samsung’s EVP and Head of the MX Digital Wallet Team, Woncheol Chai, said:
“As we continue to evolve Samsung Wallet, delivering trusted mobile experiences remains at the core of our innovation. Through close collaboration with our partners and in alignment with the Aliro standard, Digital Home Key brings the same level of security and ease Samsung Galaxy users expect from Samsung Wallet to their homes.”
