Samsung is refining its system apps in One UI 8.5, and the Collection app gets a meaningful update too. The new version introduces fresh features, smarter organization tools, and a subtle visual refresh that makes saving and revisiting content far more useful than before. Unfortunately, a global availability still looks unlikely.

Collection gets floating bar and refined layout in One UI 8.5

Collection is an “advanced” system feature on Galaxy phones, but only available in select regions such as China. The app serves as a personal knowledge hub, letting users save text, images, websites, and other content. Galaxy AI then helps analyze, tag, summarize, and organize everything into an easy-to-browse knowledge base, making it far more powerful than a simple bookmarking or notes tool.

While Samsung seems to have no plans to release it globally, its One UI 8.5 update brings several key upgrades to Collection, as reported by @GalaxyTechie. One of the first changes you’ll notice is a new floating bar at the bottom, a signature design element in One UI 8.5. It makes navigation faster and more intuitive.

The Sets grid adopts the same visual style used in Gallery albums and Samsung Internet tabs. Users can now save multiple clips inside a single set, something that wasn’t possible earlier. Each set can also be renamed freely, allowing for more personal and meaningful organization. Saved links now appear with a new card-style UI, complete with a website thumbnail. Tapping a link opens it directly in the browser, reducing extra steps.

Galaxy AI plays a bigger role in this update. When you save content, the system can now automatically generate tags and display a summary based on what you clipped. These tags appear both below individual clips and inside the Search section, making it easier to rediscover saved content later. Search itself has been refined, with updated search categories and a redesigned interface.

Another handy addition is the ability to listen to saved text. The Collection app can now read text aloud, complete with play, pause, forward, and backward controls, along with adjustable playback speed. It’s a useful feature for multitasking or revisiting longer notes hands-free. Hopefully, Samsung will release this feature worldwide soon — if not with One UI 8.5, maybe with One UI 9.
