Samsung Treats Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4 with May 2025 Update

Samsung has begun rolling out the May 2025 security update for its Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 foldable smartphones. With this release, the company has completed the May SMR (Security Maintenance Release) rollout for all eligible foldables. It has already updated the Galaxy Z Flip 3, Fold 3, Flip 5, Fold 5, Flip 6, and Fold 6.
Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4 also get the May 2025 security update
Currently, the May 2025 update for the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Fold 4 is rolling out in Samsung’s home country of South Korea. A global expansion is expected in the coming days, though users in some regions may have to wait longer. In Korea, users can identify the update via firmware versions F721NKSS6HYE2 for the Flip model and F736NKSS6HYE2 for the Fold.
This update comes right on the heels of One UI 7, which rolled out a few weeks back with a bunch of new features and enhancements, including AI-driven experiences. Unsurprisingly, the latest release doesn’t contain any such user-facing changes. Instead, it focuses on security patches, addressing nearly 80 vulnerabilities across the Galaxy family.
While there are no critical issues this month, the May SMR contains nearly 60 high-severity Android OS patches and 20 One UI-specific security fixes. If you’re using a Galaxy Z Flip 4 or Fold 4, install the update as soon as it becomes available to safeguard your phone against these vulnerabilities. Go to Settings > Software Update > Download and install to check for updates manually.
Both the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Fold 4 are eligible for Samsung’s Android 16-based One UI 8 update. The new version may hit the beta stage next week, with the stable build expected in July. Samsung may ship the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7 with One UI 8 out of the box. Other eligible models should receive the update in subsequent months. We will keep you posted.
