Samsung May Reveal LPDDR6 RAM and PCIe Gen5 SSD at CES 2026

Samsung is gearing up in a big way for CES 2026 in Las Vegas, set for the first week of January. At the event, Samsung may showcase two major memory breakthroughs — its next-generation LPDDR6 RAM and a compact, AI-optimized PCIe Gen5 SSD. The company says both are built to deliver blazing speeds, higher efficiency, and the extra performance headroom needed for on-device AI.

Samsung’s LPDDR6 memory is built on the company’s advanced 12 nm process and supports speeds of up to 10.7 Gbps. That’s about 11 percent faster than its current LPDDR5X chips. It also delivers around 21 percent better power efficiency, thanks to a new dynamic power management system that adjusts energy use based on workload. Samsung has expanded the memory’s I/O count to increase bandwidth for AI applications, edge computing, and data-heavy mobile tasks.

Beyond the speed and efficiency gains, Samsung has added built-in security features to safeguard data integrity. The LPDDR6 standard, finalized by JEDEC earlier this year, represents the next big leap in low-power memory. It also sets the stage for future speeds that could climb as high as 14 Gbps.

Alongside the new RAM, Samsung will unveil the PM9E1, a compact M.2 Gen5 NVMe SSD. It will measure just 22*42 mm. Samsung says it’s the “world’s first AI-optimized PCIe Gen5 SSD” in this form factor, yet it still packs serious punch. Despite its small size, it can reach read speeds of 14.8 GB/s and write speeds of 13.4 GB/s, with capacities up to 4 TB. The drive uses Samsung’s in-house Presto controller and V8 TLC V-NAND. As a result, it delivers more than 50 percent better power efficiency than its predecessor.
Keep your eyes peeled, as Samsung is expected to demo both products at CES 2026 in Las Vegas. Details on pricing and commercial availability should surface around the same time. On top of that, Samsung has already snagged several CES Innovation Awards, which makes it all more exciting.
