Samsung Secures Top Spot in Android Smartphone Sales in Japan

Samsung saw a solid response from smartphone buyers in Japan in 2025. The company secured the top position in Android smartphone sales for the year, according to BCN Ranking. This ranking is based on cumulative annual sales volume data collected from major retailers across the country.

Samsung dominates the Android smartphone category at BCN AWARD 2026

BCN Corporation recently announced the BCN AWARD 2026. The award recognizes the best-selling manufacturers in different electronics categories in Japan. It is determined based on the BCN Ranking that collects actual point-of-sale information from roughly 2,350 electronics retailers, computer specialty stores, and online shops nationwide. Samsung becomes the top Android smartphone brand in Japan based on the sales performance from January 1 to December 31, 2025. 

Samsung’s strong sales across its Galaxy phone lineup helped it achieve the top ranking. The company performed well across the premium, foldable, and mid-range segments, attracting customers with various needs and budgets. Furthermore, the Korean firm also improved its sales channels in Japan through expanded carrier partnerships, increased in-store experience spaces, and closer collaboration with major e- commerce platforms.

The latest foldable smartphones played a key role in the sales growth. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 gained a lot of attention from consumers thanks to their slim design and advanced AI-powered features. In fact, Samsung says the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is the thinnest and lightest horizontal foldable smartphone ever released in Japan.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy S25 series also played a big role in sales performance. The flagship lineup introduced a bunch of AI features to make daily life easier. Samsung said first-half sales of the Galaxy S25 series were 150% more than those of the previous model. Likewise, the mid-range Galaxy A25 5G also helped boost sales. The phone features a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED 120Hz display, a 50MP OIS main camera, and a 5000mAh battery with 25W fast charging.
