Samsung May Drop Second One UI 8.5 Beta Update on this Date

Samsung opened the One UI 8.5 Beta Program yesterday, giving Galaxy users their first official look at the company’s next major software upgrade. As expected, the initial rollout is extremely limited: it is restricted to a few devices and select countries. Many fans are hoping Samsung will broaden availability with the second beta release. And now, we may finally have a date for when One UI 8.5 Beta 2 will arrive.
Samsung may launch the second One UI 8.5 Beta update later this month
At launch, One UI 8.5 Beta is only available for the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra in the US, the UK, South Korea, and Germany. Samsung says it will launch the beta program for the Galaxy S25 trio in Poland and India later, likely in the second wave. While the company didn’t specify a date, X tipster @ya_sking12767 reports that the next beta build will drop on December 22.
The source accurately reported the initial beta release almost two weeks ago, so their latest claim may well be accurate. In fact, another tipster previously mentioned the same date for One UI 8.5 Beta 2, and they were also right about the Beta 1 rollout. All signs point to this timeline being reliable. Still, Samsung can change its plans at any time depending on development progress. We’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available.
The upcoming update will address issues found in Beta 1, deliver performance optimizations, and may even introduce new features. While the initial release appears relatively stable with no major bugs reported so far, early adopters may discover a few issues in the coming days. Samsung will almost certainly roll out several more beta builds before the stable version launches alongside the Galaxy S26 series.
As far as beta programs for other devices are concerned, the tipster says they have no idea. Samsung doesn’t seem to have finalized anything yet. It may launch beta builds for a few more models, but don’t expect the program to expand beyond the aforementioned six countries. Stay tuned for more on One UI 8.5.
