Samsung’s major One UI updates often break Good Lock compatibility, and One UI 8.5 is no exception. A handful of Good Lock modules are currently broken in the new beta, which rolled out this week. However, Samsung has now shared its development roadmap, and the overall outlook is reassuring.

One UI 8.5 currently doesn’t support some Good Lock modules

Good Lock apps enable extensive customization across your Galaxy device, thanks to their deep system-level access to UI elements. But that level of integration also means Samsung’s developers must rework many of these apps with every major One UI release to ensure they maintain the same capabilities. Thankfully, most of the modules are already compatible with One UI 8.5.

According to Samsung, only Home Up and QuickStar currently have compatibility issues with the new One UI version. The former provides custom grid layouts, home screen styles, folder styles, and enhanced share-sheet controls, while the latter offers shortcuts and status-bar customization tools. Hopefully, the company will update them soon.

Additionally, Samsung says LockStar and NotiStar may misbehave or lack some features in One UI 8.5. However, these modules still work. They require some optimization to align with the revised system structure and updated design framework to regain full functionality. Samsung must be working on it. We will let you know when we have more information.

All other Good Lock modules work perfectly fine in One UI 8.5. The new version has just entered the beta phase, with the initial release limited to the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra in the US, the UK, Germany, and South Korea. Samsung may roll out the beta update in Poland and India later this year. The stable One UI 8.5 version arrives in 2026, debuting alongside the Galaxy S26 series.
