Samsung Reveals Exynos Modem 5410, Could Power Galaxy S26

Samsung has unveiled Exynos Modem 5410, its latest modem to improve mobile connectivity. The company may pair this modem with its Exynos 2600 processor in the upcoming Galaxy S26 phones. The new modem promises faster, more reliable, and secure connectivity, along with improved satellite communication capabilities.

Samsung advances mobile connectivity with Exynos Modem 5410

Unlike previous Exynos chips, Exynos 2600 does not have a built-in 5G modem. Instead, Samsung uses the external modem to handle mobile networks. This approach could allow the processor to focus on delivering solid performance while the modem ensures reliable connectivity.

Built on a 4nm EUV process, Exynos Modem 5410 supports 5G NR dual connectivity, combining both sub-6 GHz (FR1) and mmWave (FR2) bands. As a result, the modem offers download speeds up to 14.79 Gbps. In the FR1 brand alone, it can combine up to 380 MHz of bandwidth to deliver speeds of up to 11.2 Gbps.

Furthermore, Exynos Modem 5410 supports advanced satellite communication. The modem uses three different satellite technologies: LTE DTC, NB-IoT NTN, and NR-NTN. The first enables voice calls through satellites, while the second supports simple text transmission and location sharing in remote areas with no cellular coverage. Likewise, the third enables higher-quality satellite communication, including video calls.

Samsung has also put a strong priority on security. Exynos Modem 5410 supports ROM(Root of Trust) based Hybrid post-quantum cryptography. This helps protect devices against future security threats posed by quantum computing. There’s a dedicated Security Processor that protects sensitive information such as IMEI data and network authentication encryption keys.

So, when paired with the Exynos 2600 processor in Galaxy devices, the modem could significantly improve the overall connectivity experience. For the uninitiated, Exynos 2600 features a 10-core CPU based on Arm v9.3 architecture. It includes one C1 Ultra prime core at 3.8GHz, three C1 Pro mid-cores at 3.25GHz, and six C1 Pro cores at 2.75GHz. Thanks to the AMD Xclipse 960 GPU, it brings a major boost in graphics performance.
