It’s almost the New Year, which means Samsung is gearing up to roll out the next Galaxy S series phones. Recent rumors suggest the Galaxy S26 lineup will be announced in late February, meaning you may have to wait until March to get your hands on the devices. There’s been no shortage of leaks, and we’ve rounded up nearly everything you would want to know about the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

However, there is at least one thing the company has yet to clarify, and rising memory chip prices have cast doubt on it. How much will the Galaxy S26 series cost? Xiaomi has already raised the bar with its flagship phone, and Apple and Samsung could follow suit. A report from Korea suggests Samsung is struggling to settle on pricing for the Galaxy S26.

Galaxy S26 pricing not finalized as Samsung weighs cost pressures

According to a report from The Bell, Samsung is still weighing pricing for the Galaxy S26. For one thing, the company cannot compromise on profitability yet again. Other reports suggest Samsung is selling the Galaxy Z TriFold at a loss, as production costs exceed its retail price, and the company may be looking to recoup those losses.

Component prices have risen sharply, particularly for mobile DRAM. This increase is largely driven by corporate orders for AI data centers and constrained supply from chipmakers. On top of that, the bill of materials (BoM) has also increased. Raising prices, however, would create a bigger problem, as it would likely hurt overall sales volumes.

What could help Samsung somewhat is the use of in-house chipsets, namely the Exynos 2600, for the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+, even if limited to select regions. This would be one way to stay on safer ground. Additionally, Samsung will use the same chipset in the Galaxy Z Flip 8, which could be part of a broader strategy to improve margins.
