Samsung has recently released an update for its Camera Assistant app. However, the update has taken away the 3D shooting feature, which lets you record 3D video for the Galaxy XR. As of now, it’s unclear why the company decided to remove the tool, but many Galaxy S25 users are disappointed.

Last month, with Camera Assistant version 4.0.00.3, Samsung introduced the 3D capture feature. It allowed users to create spatial photos and videos to view on the Galaxy XR headsets. The feature also supported 4K video at 30 frames per second for immersive results. Of course, this is a powerful tool and reportedly available only on the flagship Galaxy S25 series.

Some believe the company might have saved it for a future release, likely alongside the Galaxy S26 series or XR headset. If you want to keep 3D video recording, the only option right now is not to update the Camera Assistant app. However, this may also mean missing out on the latest possible under-the-hood improvements and bug fixes included in the update. We will let you know if Samsung brings back the feature in future updates. Stay tuned.
