Samsung Releases October 2025 Security Update for Galaxy S21 FE

As the month’s end nears, Samsung is quickly pushing its October 2025 security update to more eligible Galaxy devices. The Galaxy S21 FE has now picked up the update, bringing the latest batch of security enhancements. The new patch is currently available in Vietnam, with more regions expected to get it in the coming days.
Galaxy S21 FE grabs Samsung’s October 2025 security update
Samsung’s Galaxy S21 FE is now part of the quarterly security update schedule. That means the phone will receive four updates per year instead of monthly releases. It has now received the October 2025 security update with firmware version G990EXXSJHYJ4. The build comes with an OTA size of around 268 MB. If you live in Vietnam and have the S21 FE, you can install it by heading over to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Once downloaded, you need to restart to complete the installation.
With this update, the Galaxy S21 FE will remain protected against the latest security vulnerabilities. This month’s Security Maintenance Release (SMR) includes fixes for 14 high-severity Android OS vulnerabilities and 20 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVEs). For example, the update fixes a Samsung DeX issue that blocks attackers from accessing the recent app list. Other fixes lie within several core components, including the fingerprint trustlet, Contacts, KnoxGuard, and Knox Enterprise.
Last week, Samsung began rolling out the Android 16-based One UI 8 update for the Galaxy S21 FE in several regions. If it has not reached your region yet, you may need to wait a few days or weeks, as the company is releasing it gradually. Alongside the fresh software experience, the update also includes the September 2025 security patch. So, if you have already installed One UI 8, don’t forget to check for the October security update as well. The 2022 Fan Edition model may receive the upcoming One UI 8.5 update sometime next year.
