Samsung confirms fix for One UI 8’s Dynamic Wallpaper issue
Dynamic Wallpaper is a built-in wallpaper service available on Samsung’s flagship Galaxy phones. It automatically refreshes the background with subtle color gradients that shift depending on the time of day. This gives the device a fresh and elegant look without needing to change wallpapers manually.
Samsung’s Android 16-based One UI 8 update brought a visual upgrade to Dynamic Wallpaper, enhancing how wallpapers adapt throughout the day. However, some Galaxy users have reported a frustrating issue. The wallpaper occasionally resets to the default stock image, often happening overnight.
While not every Galaxy user might use Dynamic Wallpaper — many prefer static images, videos, or third-party wallpapers — those who do know how frustrating this could be. After a series of user complaints, Samsung acknowledged the issue, tying it to an unknown bug in the Samsung Wallpaper app.
According to a community update shared on X, the company’s engineers are already working on a solution. Samsung said a new version of the Wallpaper app will roll out soon to address the bug. The company hasn’t specified a release date, but the update should be available soon. You can check for updates in the Galaxy Store, though the new version may be installed automatically for some users.
Samsung also noted that app version numbers may vary depending on the device and market, but all versions will include the same underlying improvements. So even if the changelog doesn’t explicitly mention a wallpaper fix, updating remains your best move.
