Samsung Pay Won’t Work on These Galaxy Watches Starting Today

Samsung is pulling the plug on Samsung Pay for older Galaxy Watches that run on the Tizen operating system. Starting May 31, 2025, if you haven’t already installed Samsung Pay on your watch, you won’t be able to download it anymore.
These Galaxy Watches bid final good bye to Samsung Pay, but there’s a catch
Which Galaxy Watches are affected by this change, you might wonder? Well, there are a few (h/t: KeepUPwithOneUI). To name, the Gear S2, Gear S3, Gear Sport, Galaxy Watch, Galaxy Watch Active, Galaxy Watch Active2, and Galaxy Watch3. These are all older Galaxy Watch models that use Samsung’s Tizen operating system. After May 31, 2025, if you reset your watch or try to pair it with a new phone, you won’t be able to reinstall Samsung Pay on these models, even if you had it before.
Samsung’s newer Galaxy Watches run One UI Watch, a system that’s essentially based on Google’s Wear OS. Naturally, Wear OS has a wider app ecosystem and better features, so it makes sense that Samsung is focusing its efforts there. Because of this, Samsung Pay support will stop on Tizen-based Galaxy Watches. However, if you already have Samsung Pay installed on your Tizen Galaxy Watch, you can keep using it as long as you update the app to the latest version (2.7.51) before May 31, 2025.
So, if you want to continue using Samsung Pay on your current Galaxy Watch, it’s important that you don’t reset the watch or pair it with a new phone after this date. Also, be sure to update the Samsung Pay app to the latest version to avoid any issues. That said, it might be worth considering an upgrade to a newer Galaxy Watch if you want long-term support and access to the latest features. And if you’re sticking with your current Tizen watch, remember, don’t reset it.
