Samsung has turned the launch of its Galaxy S26 Ultra into a global gaming celebration. The company recently hosted the PlayGalaxy Cup: PUBG Mobile Global Open in San Francisco, kicking off the 2026 PlayGalaxy Cup esports season. The event put its latest flagship directly into the hands of professional creators and competitive gamers.

Galaxy S26 Ultra powers Samsung’s new PlayGalaxy Cup esports league

PlayGalaxy Cup is a global tournament league built around the gaming performance of Galaxy devices. Unlike previous years that featured standalone competitions, the 2026 edition evolves into a full-year esports league. Samsung created the league in collaboration with the massively popular mobile battle royale game PUBG Mobile.

The company staged the opening day as a live entertainment event blending gaming, influencers, and esports competition. Sixteen players, including creators from the gaming organization 100 Thieves and members of the streaming collective OfflineTV, faced off in a series of PUBG Mobile matches.

Other participants included gaming personalities such as Sunny, CouRage, NiceWigg, and Octane, alongside creators like TinaKitten, Yvonnie, Foolish, and Masayoshi. Members of TeamGalaxy, Samsung’s global roster of gaming influencers, joined them, creating a diverse lineup of creators and competitive players.

All matches were played using the Galaxy S26 Ultra, allowing viewers to see the device’s gaming performance in a real competitive environment. The competition reached a massive online audience, with millions of viewers on YouTube livestream.

The San Francisco event was only the beginning, though. Following the Global Open showcase, the PlayGalaxy Cup will transition into its full competitive season. Starting in May, Samsung will hold regional qualifiers across North America, South America, Europe, India, Southeast Asia, and Oceania. Top teams from these regions will advance to the World Final at Gamescom 2026 in Cologne, Germany.

By combining influencers, esports tournaments, live audiences, and global streaming events, Samsung is turning the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s launch into a yearlong celebration of mobile gaming. It is positioning the new flagship as a device built for competitive gaming at a global scale.
