Samsung Launches InnoX Lab to Accelerate AI Development

Samsung aims to strengthen its competitive edge in the artificial intelligence (AI) era. The company recently established a new organization within its Device Experience (DX) division to accelerate development and growth in this space. Dubbed InnoX Lab, the unit will allow teams to collaborate more easily and respond to rapid changes in AI.
Samsung DX division establishes InnoX Lab to speed up AI progress
Samsung’s DX division includes its consumer electronics and IT & Mobile business units. However, the division now sees the need for a dedicated unit that can focus on AI development and help speed up innovation processes. As such, the Korean firm has created InnoX Lab, reports media outlet Newsis.
The name InnoX combines innovation and transformation, reflecting Samsung’s mission of leading innovation and change. InnoX Lab will focus on high-difficulty core tasks, sharing the related details internally. Samsung will start operating the unit with four tasks to boost technological innovation and improve execution across the company. These include:
- Expansion of the application of digital twin technology
- Applying AI to innovate logistics operation models
- Development of core technologies for humanoid robots
- Adopting physical AI technology to promote automation in manufacturing
The publication says this move will allow the company to generate tangible results in a short time. For each task, InnoX Lab will hire talent with the necessary capabilities, going beyond organizational boundaries. The launch of the new unit aligns with the vision of TM Roh, President and CEO of the DX division. Since taking over as head of the division, Roh wanted to create a separate AI organization.
“We must reorganize existing work methods and create an efficient and agile organizational culture,” Roh said in his first message to employees earlier this year. “Let’s foster organic cooperation across business units under the ‘One Samsung’ motto, and let’s connect the strengths of the DX division to create greater value.”
