Samsung has already launched the Galaxy A56 in most markets, with the exception of the US. It debuted in March alongside the Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A26. Samsung has confirmed that it plans to bring the Galaxy A56 to the US later this year. In the meantime, as we await its arrival, the company appears to have begun testing One UI 8 for the Galaxy A56.

Samsung starts testing One UI 8 for Galaxy A56

Samsung has started testing the Android 16-based One UI 8 build for the Galaxy A56 (h/t: Akhilesh Kumar on X). The build number in question appears to be A566BXXU4BYF7. That’s certainly a positive sign, confirming that Samsung has begun developing the upcoming firmware for the Galaxy A56.

Judging by the build number, this appears to be for the international variant. When Samsung launches the phone in the US, its model number will be SM-A566U, SM-A566U1.

Currently, the Android 16-based One UI 8 is in its beta stage and is only available for the Galaxy S25 trio. So far, Samsung has rolled out two rounds of the beta program, expanding availability to more regions. However, it hasn’t yet opened up the beta to additional devices. Yes, not even the Galaxy S25 Edge. That said, we may see more devices become eligible in the next round of beta releases, which could arrive as soon as this week.

The One UI 8 update brings a slew of improvements, and the beta builds so far have offered a solid preview of what’s coming. As expected, the stable version will introduce even more features and refinements when it lands next month. Samsung also plans to ship its upcoming foldables—the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7—with One UI 8 out of the box. And if the latest rumors are to be believed, we might also see the debut of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE at the same event. Looks like we’re in for quite a show.
