Samsung Kicks Off June 2025 Security Update Rollout with Galaxy A56

Samsung has kicked off the rollout of its June 2025 security update, and leading the charge is the Galaxy A56. This premium mid-range handset is picking up the latest security patch ahead of flagship models. However, it shouldn’t be long before the company expands the rollout, covering more devices and regions.
Galaxy A56 marks the beginning of Samsung’s June 2025 security update rollout
As of this writing, the June security patch, aka SMR (Security Maintenance Release), is rolling out to the Galaxy A56 in Asia, Europe, and Latin America. The update bears the firmware build numbers A566BXS4AYE5 in the former two markets, and A566EXXS4AYE5 in the latter. Samsung doesn’t seem to have included any new features or other goodies here, which isn’t surprising at all.
Launched earlier this year, the Galax A56 runs One UI 7 out of the box. It is eligible for six major OS upgrades, with One UI 8 set to arrive in a few months. Until then, Samsung will only roll out the latest security fixes. The June SMR addresses over 60 vulnerabilities across various Android OS and One UI components.
As with most updates, the latest security patch for the Galaxy A56 is rolling out in phases. It may take a few days or weeks to reach all eligible units worldwide. As mentioned above, Samsung should also soon release the June SMR for additional devices. To check for updates, Galaxy users can head to Settings > Software Update > Download and install.
Samsung is currently testing One UI 8 through its public beta program for the Galaxy S25 series. While it remains unclear whether the Galaxy A56 will participate in the beta phase, it should be one of the first mid-range models to pick up the big Android 16 update. The rollout may begin sometime in August or September, though Samsung may release the stable version in July with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7.
